Butter Beads Design Studio began with a random trip to the craft store for a few inspirational beads. A hobby quickly became a beading passion for designer and studio owner, Ellie Mayes.

Ellie has always been inspired by color and texture in clothing and jewelry and even pursued a minor in Fashion Merchandising in college. Practicality won out with a degree in Business, but the impractical entrepreneur is hard at work now! Sorry, Dad!

After lots of experimenting, classes and trade rags, Ellie's unique style can be found on women all over the country!

Butter Beads has evolved over the years into a unique assortment of handmade jewelry with signature designs as well as one-of-a-kind pieces that are trendy and traditional; artsy, but wearable. Ellie believes that women should wear jewelry with everything – tee shirts to cocktail dresses and everything in between. A unique piece of jewelry completes any look! She also feels like any one piece of jewelry should be worn with everything in your wardrobe. Wear crystals with jeans and glass beads to a fancy dinner!

Each item is designed and created by Ellie in her private studio using natural stones and pearls, glass and sterling beads to create wearable art for all kinds of women and their many roles in life. She takes inspiration from color, texture, comfort and her own preference for jewelry that makes you feel special.
